I haven’t been this excited to post an OTW playlist in a minute. Last month I had about four songs on rotation so I didn’t want to force a playlist but October will more than make up for it. What I love most about this month’s playlist is that it’s a nice balance between mainstream and rising artists that are impacting music on their own right. Check out what I’m fucking with this month and look out for Lady Gaga’s fifth album Joanne and TERROR JR’S (All caps to showcase my excitement) debut album Bop City dropping this Friday! Two releases I’m very extremely ready to vibe out to but let’s get into October’s OTW:
24K Magic – Bruno Mars
When I heard “24K Magic” I verbally said Bruno Mars did it again and I wouldn’t be surprised if radio stations are starting to play the braggadocio (S/O to Donald Trump…but not really because he’s awful) banger every hour. I’m so excited to hear what Mars has created with his third album 24K Magic if it’s anything like the single I’m expecting back to back hits!
Overtime (Featuring Miguel & Justine Skye) – ScHoolboy Q
TDE’s ScHoolboy Q dropped a visual for his single “Overtime” last month and I’ve been hooked every since. From the chill beat with the perfect amount of knock, Miguel and Justine Skye’s solid contribution to the track and Q giving me everything I love to hear from him, I hate that I’m just now getting into it but that means I need to revisit Blank Face LP and gain some more appreciation for the consistent rapper.
Tiny Cities (Featuring Beck) – Flume
The production on this track is insane. I didn’t think I’d be a fan of Beck but after this track I’m ready to get into his discography. “Tiny Cities” is pure vibes, I need to walk around NYC late at night with it blasting through my earbuds to get the full effect.
Cool – Daya
At first “Cool” played like a sweet, young love song until it reached the hook and then it became an addictive ear worm that wouldn’t be leaving my ears anytime soon. When Daya brings her voice up an octave to sing cool… *presses replay button*
I hope you guys enjoy this month’s playlist because I’m loving it and will have it on repeat for weeks to come. Let me know what I should be listening to as October comes to a close in the comments!
