Kim Petras Drops West Coast Banger “Hills”

I can truly appreciate good music from all genres but when I hear an amazing pop song its an intoxicating experience. The pop genre gets flack because most of the mainstream artists pollute the top 40 charts with generic “hits” that borrow from whatever artist or style is trending. But the music lovers who don’t rely solely on the Billboard charts to fill their playlists know there’s a lot of exciting pop music to be found at the moment. From well known stars (Tove Lo, Charli XCX, Lorde) to new artists currently enjoying their moment (SZA, Khalid, Julia Michaels) and rising acts destined to blow up in the near future (Terror Jr, Billie Eilish, Jessie Reyez and so many more to name), Kim Petras definitely falls under the latter category and I’m going to need you to do your homework ASAP if her name is foreign to you.

I fell in love with Ms. Petras from the first play of her debut single “I Don’t Want It At All”, an extremely sassy yet playful bop about Kim wanting the finer things in life without having to rack up charges on her own credit card (the best things in life are free, right?). Her latest release offer another glimpse into Petras debut album and I’m completely onboard with the pop goodness Kim is serving. “Hills” is a bouncy cut about enjoying a good moment with a special someone.

“If you wanna pop one in the hills / I got cha,” Kim offers on the addictive chorus. “Hills” begins with an inviting chorus and Petras draws me in more as the song continues. From the breezy lyrics, a chill feature from Pensacola rapper Baby E and Kim offering supreme vocals on the bridge, “Hills” is the definition of a summer song but I’ll definitely be bumping throughout the end of 2017. Keep the bops coming Kim!
