Music has always been an essential part of my life and if you look at some of the content I create or most of my Instagram then you know I spend a lot of time listening, thinking and talking about music. Even though I’ve got a lil lazy on the writing forefront, becoming a music journalist was one of my career aspirations (and still one of many goals)👌🏾
So to get back into my writing kick I’m gonna do this thing I’m calling Music Field Trips. Everyday I’m going to listen to one album, experience what the body of work has to offer and do a short reflection on it. The album may be a classic, influential, horrible… who knows but I’m going to choose albums from all genres. To be a true fan of music, I think you have to at least appreciate the art of music from all aspects/genres. Plus if I want to write about music, I should know my history right? 🤷🏾♂️
So through these #musicfieldtrips maybe I’ll help whoever stumbles upon these posts find some old music to rediscover. If you have any suggestions of albums I NEED to hear before I leave this earth drop them in the comments on this and future posts.
I’ll most likely also post these on my website itsmarcelj.com as well so feel free to check that out if you want. Now on to the fun part, listening to music 😌 Attached to this post are some of the initial albums I plan to check out.
