College can be four of the best or worst years of your life depending on how you choose to tackle them. For me, I came into college with intentions to escape countless years of repetivity and a goal to find myself (cliche I know). Through those four years I discovered a love of using my voice to share my thoughts, experiences and opinions hoping that my words could push others to challenge their thoughts and be entertained by the ups and downs of my life. Amazing friends were made, lots of alcohol was consumed and I find myself constantly looking back at those times and missing the freedom of being an adult with half the responsibilities. I’ve also missed having a radio show with my best friend where I could play good music and talk about pop culture, music and whatever was going on in our lives.
I knew that after college I wanted to start a podcast while I looked for a job in the media realm but I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to talk about. While I liked the idea of talking about news and pop culture like I did in college, I thought about the thousands of other podcasts doing the same thing. How could I stand out in the crowd? During a late night in November the idea finally hit me. What if I did a podcast centered around the vibe of a good pregame? After that seed settled into my mind, the idea quickly grew with plans to share weekly mixtapes reflecting the vibe of each episode and talking about past crazy nights and personal thoughts.

Pregaming has always been my favorite part of going out because it sets the tone of the night. Being surrounded with good people, a few drinks and conversations without judgement never gets old and the thought of doing that on a bigger scale was the spark I needed to ignite my passion for creating again. Last week I uploaded the fifth episode of The Pregame and it feels so good to have a platform to talk about things that have shaped me and let off some steam when work feels like it’s taking over my life.

If you want to join my weekly celebration give The Pregame a listen and start some conversations with me. There’s so much that I want to do with this concept and I can feel myself becoming better at editing and recording with each episode but it’s going to take some time to get The Pregame to the level I want it to be at. When I moved to New York it was a huge leap and it took some time to get back into creating and chasing my goals but now that I have my momentum, I’m ready to live life, embrace new opportunities and continue to push myself out of my comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to change your environment and evolve. It can change your life.
