I love when a song takes me on a journey from an undeniable chorus to mesmerizing production. Skylar Grey is known for penning a few huge singles for artists like Rihanna and Eminem but the songs she keeps for herself always make me wonder why I don’t listen to her more. “Off Road” is Grey’s latest single and the adventurous, mid-tempo track had me captivated from first listen. I haven’t dove deep into Grey’s discography but whenever I hear her music I’m reminded how well she can capture a moment with her songs. Imagine getting lost in the woods with a special someone and enjoying every moment of it, that is the feel I get from “Off Road”.

Jayson DeZuzio did an amazing job with the drum driven production and overall exciting feel of the song. Grey’s lyrics perfectly match the vibe of the song and has me hoping this isn’t the last collaboration between Grey and DeZuzio. “Let’s go somewhere we both haven’t been / I need a change of scenery / I’m sick of lookin’ at the same old shit,” Skylar confesses on the enticing pre-hook before the song really comes to life in the chorus. If dropping a dope song wasn’t enough Grey also released a 360° visual showcasing the capabilities of Samsung Gear 360 and the future of music videos. Definitely adding this one to my summer playlist!
