OTW Playlist Jan 4 2016

We’re a couple days into 2016 and I have a OTW playlist ready to go! With the Grammys happening next month, I added a couple nominees that I’m hoping will gain that coveted trophy. Get into it!

Sax – Fleur East

When I saw this blonde bombshell perform her debut single “Sax” on X-Factor UK I was captivated by this woman’s commanding stage presence. The U.K. songstress competed on the singing competition twice and managed to place second in 2014 landing a deal with Syco Music and dropping her debut album Love, Sax and Flashbacks in 2015. While I patiently wait for Fleur’s album and talent to reach the states, I’ll replay her Bruno Mars “Upton Funk” esque uptempo bop complete with a relentless sax, funky rhythm and catchy lyrics.

I Know What You Did Last Summer – Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello establish major chemistry on the thrilling collaboration “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. Released in November, the guitar driven single is continuing to pick up steam on the charts currently sitting in the top 20 on iTunes. I can’t get over the effect Mendes and Cabello’s voices have as they battle each other at the bridge sounding like they’re are trying to win a battle that was over as soon as a second lover came into play. Plus those killer live performances? I’m here for this talented duo!

Tennessee Whiskey – Chris Stapleton

I’m not a huge fan of country but I can appreciate a talented artist when I hear one and Chris Stapleton is definitely up there with the exciting new country acts dominating the charts. I first heard “Tennessee Whiskey” during a country music award performance with Justin Timberlake and was blown away by Stapleton’s soulful pipes. I haven’t given his debut album Traveller a full listen yet but I’ll give it some love soon. Definitely an artist that deserves all the attention he’s receiving at the moment.

What are you listening to in the new year? Let me know in the comments!
