I’ve been struggling with the best way to let you guys know what I’m listening to. I’m constantly hearing and falling in love with new music but I don’t always have the time to crank out pages of reviews for songs. So I thought why not make a top five list of songs I’m feeling for the week? People love lists right? If not just pretend their mini paragraphs. Check out what I’m replaying this week:
Hotline Bling

“Hotline Bling” was released alongside two other tracks (“Right Hand”, “Back To Back”) during Drake’s OVO Sound radio show on Beats 1 and I’ve been obsessed ever since! Maybe it’s because the track samples D.R.A.M.’s infectious “Cha Cha”. Or because “Hotline Bling” is the perfect sing-a-long track for any car ride. Either way I recommend you check out this song, it’s not too late….

Love Myself

Hailee Steinfeld showcased her vocals on blockbuster Pitch Perfect 2 and she recently dropped her first single titled “Love Myself”. The empowering jam has me looking at Steinfeld in a new light as her unique vocals dominate the Mattman & Robin produced track. I can’t wait to hear what’s to come for the newcomer.

Sober

With numerous solid bodies of work in his catalogue, I’m going to be very upset if Childish Gambino decides to never release more music. His most recent EP Kauai features “Sober” and it has the feel of his debut album Camp while sounding fresh and authentic. Time will tell if we’ll hear new Gambino music but at least we have a back-catalogue to keep us content.

100 Grandkids

After taking a couple years off to take a break from the limelight Mac Miller is back with a new single. “100 Grandkids” is a nice reminder of why I got interested in Miller’s music and the production is dope. With two beats produced by Sha Money XL (Big K.R.I.T.’s Live from the Underground) and Big Jerm (Wiz Khalifa’s “The Race”) “100 GrandKids” has me excited to hear the new album GO:OD A.M. on September 18th.

I’m still waiting for Blackbear to receive more love from their solid debut album Deadroses. Their latest track “Emily” came out last month and the chill banger gets a play whenever I open Soundcloud. Give it some love!
