The anticipation for Rihanna’s eigth album R8 has been KILLING me. Ever since Rih released a teaser of a track called “Kiss It Better” I’ve been thirsty for some new Rihleases (Let’s see how many Rihanna puns I have inside me!). Rihanna is usually churning out albums every year, so this two year wait has been a little difficult. I’m all for Rihanna taking her time to make a perfect album, just give me a release date so I can sleep at night. Here are a few details about R8 that has me excited to hear the album.

During an interview at the 2015 Grammys, Kanye West revealed that he’s executive producing R8. Other than Rated R, I can’t think of a cohesive Rih album that wasn’t just potential singles with a few fillers so I’m excited to hear a sonically cohesive album.

I’m sure everyone has heard the first single from R8, “FourFiveSeconds” that features Yeezy and Paul McCartney. The slow track has Rihanna in her most vulnerable place, belting her frustations on a solely acoustic track. I don’t think anyone expected Rih to veer so left with her first offering of the R8 era but I love the new sound and from the most recent teasers, it sounds like we’re going to hear more vocals from the Barbados native.

Higher” is the latest teased track and Rihanna is completely in her feelings on this one. “This whisky got me feeling pretty / so pardon if I’m impolite / I just really need your ass with me…” Rihanna declares on the moody cut that sounds like it was destined to be played in a smoky jazz club. Rih is definitely going for a mature sound with tracks “FourFiveSeconds” and “Higher” and I’m excited to hear the rest of the album.

“Kiss It Better” was the first teaser from R8 and I’m still obsessed with those few seconds of Rihanna vocals (“Been waiting on a sunshine!”) over a slinky guitar driven production. Reportedly Glass John and Natalia Kills wrote the slow jam and I can’t wait to hear the full version of the track. Natalia Kills is a dope pop singer that created the dark pop masterpiece Trouble in 2013, so I’m hoping Kills brought some heat for Ri Ri.

Rihanna is releasing teasers left and right so let’s hope she slips the full album out to the world before spring ends!
