What up to the select few that read this blog. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything but no worries I checked out a lot of music since I’ve been gone and ready to update you on what I’ve been listening to. I’ll keep you updated on that new music in a future post but this one is dedicated to an album that I didn’t pay enough attention to when it came out. “Because the Internet” released December 10, 2013 by Childish Gambino hasn’t been on heavy rotation on my iTunes but I have a feeling that will change soon. I’ve been a fan of Gambino since hearing Heartbeat from his debut album “Camp”. That song lead to hearing the whole album and falling in love with how he tells a story. (If you haven’t heard “That Power” listen to it now and you’ll understand what I mean). Even though Gambino jokes about not being a legit rapper his skills shouldn’t be overlooked and I feel like “Because the Internet” didn’t get the hype it deserved. After hearing Worldstar, 3005, Sweatpants and Crawl when I preordered the album I knew the album would be dope but somehow I lost interest when it came out. Now I’m finally giving the album a good listen and it’s exactly what I expected: mellow, sometimes deep lines from a rapper who likes to add his comedic chops to some tracks and remains underrated in the rap game. I’ll post some videos from the album below but make sure to check out “Because the Internet” if you haven’t already; definitely won’t be disappointed!
